Read this too: Second Hand Vehicles
Second hand vehicles can be bought from registered used car dealers or privately through advertisements in the West Australian or Sunday Times newspapers.
When purchasing a car privately it is worthwhile ringing the Ministry of Consumer Affairs REVS line on 1300 304024. This is the Registry of Encumbered Vehicles and contains details of vehicles that have money owing on them or are stolen.
Make sure the Police Department is informed on a change of ownership. When the car registration is due you will be informed by the Police Department.
The Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia (RAC WA) offers a vehicle fitness certificate when wishing to purchase a second hand vehicle. There will be a charge for this service. RAC WA can be contacted on 9421 4444.
